Time Server Maintenance
As part of our routine maintenance activity, between 10:00 – 14:00 on the 8th July 2010 the following changes are being made to the Network Time Protocol (NTP) and caching Domain Name System (DNS) service:
- Existing DNS servers that are responsible for resolving customer requests, will be replaced with two new resilient DNS servers with no change in IP address.
- Two of the existing NTP servers will be replaced with new servers , with no change in IP address.
The NTP2 server will be replaced with new servers and requires a change of IP address.
Due to the nature of the maintenance the above changes should not cause any disruption to normal service. Some customers, who may have configured their equipment to connect to NTP2 using the current IP address (188.8.131.52) are advised to use the network DNS name instead (ntp2.demon.co.uk). Failure to do so may result in difficulties connecting to this server once our changes have been made.
